GRAND ISLAND, NE — Earlier this summer, during a rehearsal of Resurrection Catholic Church’s newly formed Contemporary Worship Team—the first of its kind in the Grand Island Diocese—an inspired idea was born. As the group practiced in the sanctuary, Father Vijumon “Fr. V” Choorackal, Pastor of Resurrection Catholic Church, listened and prayed. In that quiet moment, an idea took shape:
What if music could help send more young people to faith-based summer camps like Higher Ground and Steubenville?
From that spark came the vision for the Fall Festival of Faith, a musical worship revival bringing together choirs and musicians from across the Tri-City area. The event will take place on Sunday, November 9, at 4:00 p.m. at Resurrection Catholic Church, 4110 Cannon Road, Grand Island. Doors open at 3:30 p.m. Admission is by freewill donation, with all proceeds benefiting participating church families to help offset the cost of youth summer camps.
After much thought, prayer, and collaboration, the idea grew into a large-scale community celebration. The festival will feature six church choirs from the Tri-City area, along with many special musical guests, including the newly formed Kearney Choral Artists, a semi-professional chorale directed by Dr. John Petzet, Director of Choirs at the University of Nebraska–Kearney. A Festival Children’s Choir and a Festival Orchestra will also perform, creating an inspiring and joyful afternoon of music and worship.
“This event is truly about faith, fellowship, and giving every child the opportunity to experience God’s love through the power of music and camp ministry,” said Fr. V. “We hope the entire community will join us for an afternoon of worship and celebration.”
All are welcome to attend this unique musical event—an afternoon filled with song, spirit, and the joy of giving back.
