Post-tensioning incorporates steel cables and tendons within the concrete formwork before pouring. Once the concrete reaches optimal strength, these tendons are tensioned to compress the concrete, ensuring a robust system that can endure for decades.
In addition to enhanced durability, post-tensioned concrete running tracks exhibit reduced susceptibility to cracking, demand less maintenance, prove to have an extended lifespan, and offer long-term cost savings over its traditional counterpart: asphalt running tracks.
Jeff Emanuel, President of Nemaha Sports Construction, reflected on the collaboration with Kearney Catholic High School, stating, “When Kearney Catholic High School approached us for facility upgrades, durability and quality were their top priorities. After thorough evaluation and input from all stakeholders, a post-tension concrete running track emerged as the ideal solution for this project.”
While Nemaha Sports Construction has built numerous post-tensioned concrete running tracks across Nebraska, Kearney Catholic High School will have the first of its kind in the tri-city area.
Beyond the track, the school’s sports stadium overhaul includes a synthetic turf football field, sports lighting, a press box, grandstands, a video board, changing rooms, concessions stand, restrooms, and storage facilities. They aim to unveil the completed complex by the Homecoming game on September 27, showcasing a state-of-the-art venue designed to elevate both athletic performance and school spirit.
